Selected Highway Horror Story Submissions
I have lived [in Las Vegas] since 1993 and it seems as the population doubled, the roadways remained about the same.
I remember when the roads were wider than needed, and traffic moved, now we're choking on traffic.

I have an experience driving home everyday it takes me 1 hour to 10 miles in this city. … It's mind boggling how one stalled car can bring traffic to a parking lot. I don't understand why they can't finish one project and start another it takes them so long to complete something.

I thought we paid a fuel tax to fund the highway system.
Change the tax from a fixed amount per gallon to a percentage of the price per gallon delivered at the gas station. Fuel prices rise, tax revenues rise to keep up with inflation.
Also, set priorities for these funds.… These funds should be given directly to the state transportation authorities and cannot be diverted to other funds for any reason.

I have been living in Nevada for altogether about 4 years. I've lived in varies states and seen lots of different transportation highways and development, but I must say by far Nevada's is the worst. I have never seen such poor design or lack thereof. They build highways up just to tear them down a few months later. It's ridiculous the money the waste. And it keeps getting worse. There are so many fatal accidents on the freeways everyday. My worst fear is to have a accident on the freeways or streets of Las Vegas as many of people die in crashes everyday here. Please someone help us.

I can't believe how slow road construction is in this city! Blows me away, cones go up, stay up, then some years later they go away. Not sure what happened.
The worst highway design sectors are where an on-ramp reaches the freeway just before an exit ramp leaves. Not safe.
